In Italy, thousands of municipalities host at least one disused quarry within their territory—an impressive number, especially considering both their landscape impact and the underutilization of land. Redevelopment therefore becomes the key word to transform a problem into an opportunity.

Building photovoltaic plants in quarries or on water basins makes it possible to address two challenges at once: on the one hand, territorial regeneration—through the redevelopment and enhancement of unused areas—and on the other, energy independence, by increasing the share of renewable energy in overall consumption.
