Installation Completed for the New Saint-Denis Wind Turbine

The installation of the new 1 MW wind turbine in Saint-Denis, Aosta Valley, has recently been completed. The project was carried out on behalf of a leading local energy operator and is designed to support the production of renewable hydrogen using electricity generated from renewable energy sources.

For InfraLab, this is a particularly significant milestone, having managed the entire project lifecycle, from permitting and engineering design to construction management and health & safety coordination.

The installed turbine has a rated capacity of 1 MW, featuring a 59-metre tower, 27-metre blades and a rotor diameter of 54 metres. Thanks to the site’s favourable wind conditions, with an average annual wind speed ranging between 6 and 6.5 m/s, the turbine is expected to generate approximately 1,700 MWh of electricity per year.

The most innovative aspect of the project lies in the use of the energy produced. The electricity generated by the wind turbine will help power a green hydrogen production facility as part of the “Hydrogen Production in Brownfield Areas” project, an initiative aimed at revitalising inactive industrial sites through the development of new sustainable energy value chains.

The completion of the installation provides a further example of how renewable energy generation can be integrated with emerging hydrogen technologies, creating tangible solutions for the energy transition while supporting the transformation of former industrial areas into low-carbon development hubs.
