The Toppetti quarry photovoltaic plant in San Giorgio Canavese (Turin) is located on a former clay quarry covering approximately 16 hectares. Inaugurated in November 2024, the plant has an installed capacity of about 11 MWp and an expected annual output of over 18,682 MWh, equivalent to the energy needs of around 5,700 households.
The benefits extend beyond the production of renewable energy: during the design phase, particular attention was paid to the characteristics of the surrounding area and to the environmental restoration of the entire site. The reforestation of the quarry—both beneath the panels and on the steeper slopes—is entrusted to specialized landscape architects and agronomists working to preserve native species. This is achieved through the introduction of naturalistic tree groupings composed of local species selected to provide shelter for small mammals and birdlife.
